“That’s what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book and that tiny thing will lead you on to another book, and another bit will lead you onto a third book. It’s geometrically progressive–all with no end in sight, and for no reason other than sheer enjoyment.”

“The strength I’m looking for isn’t the kind where you win or lose.  I’m not after a wall that’ll repel power from outside.  What I want is the kind of strength to be able to absorb that outside power, to stand up to it.  The strength to quietly endure things – unfairness, misfortune, sadness, mistakes, misunderstandings.”
